Bowel | bladder dysfunction
Symptoms specific to the bowel and bladder can occur across the lifespan and may include:
Post-prostatectomy (Open or Davinci) related symptoms
Post-benign prostate removal (HoLEP or TURP) surgery related symptoms
Urinary urgency/ frequency
Post void dribbling
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) /Painful Bladder Syndrome
Sense of incomplete bowel movements
Painful urination/ painful defecation
Pelvic floor dyssynergia
Pelvic pain | sexual dysfunction
Can occur across the lifespan and may include:
Chronic non-bacterial prostatitis
Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS)
Levator ani syndrome
Post-radiation therapy pain
General pain | dysfunction
Lumbar (low back)
Surgical scar pain | restriction
Surgical scars often affect mobility and everyday function.
Pelvic floor physical therapists can perform manual therapy techniques on both recent and older scars to reduce pain and restore optimal tissue mobility. We also educate patients in performing scar mobilization self-treatment at home.
Patient education can be performed preoperatively; post-operative treatment can begin as soon as 6 weeks per physician authorization.
